The Calumet Cycling Team

Introducing The Calumet Cycling Team

Regular readers and visitors to our stores will know that the staff at Calumet have a genuine love for photography, but not many people will know that a lot of staff are keen cyclists travelling to and from our head office and branches daily. One group of enthusiasts have got together to create The Calumet Cycling Team based out of head office in Milton Keynes.

Currently a group of 7 riders, the cycling club is supported by Calumet Photographic as a team sponsor and has been training together for 3 months.

Team captain Darren Heath says “Although many of us cycle to and from Calumet, the group meets early every Saturday morning for training rides on a pre-determined route of any distance up to 50 miles. Difficulty has to be a factor too!”

Individually, some members have entered cycling events including the upcoming 60 mile London to Milton Keynes ride. However Sunday 6th of September was the first time our guys entered an event as a team with 5 Calumet cyclists taking part in a 20 mile ride across Milton Keynes organised by Cancer Research UK.

Rides by the team are a great way to support many local and national causes and seeing the team in their branded bibs and jerseys brought a lot of interest from riders and spectators alike. Darren continues “I’ve been on an organised ride in the West Country and fellow cyclists have been engaging with me that they’re also Calumet customers. It’s good to hear this, but not so good when tackling a long steep hill!”

The team plans to expand across the country via the Calumet branch network. Many more events and rides are also in the calendar – watch out for progress updates on the blog.
