Calumet debuts a brand new competition, exclusively for students with a fantastic first prize of top photography equipment from the best brands worth £11,000.
Managing Director Jon Warner said “This new competition is just one part of Calumet’s continued investment in the future of photography. It’s important to us that we encourage and develop an early interest in photography and both the Student Photographer of the Year competition and Student Membership package have been created in the last year with this focus.” Jon chairs the 2015 judging panel alongside professional photographers Rory Lewis and Tom Barnes, and Canon’s Product Intelligence Professional David Parry.
The top prize is a package of photographic equipment that is designed to give the winner a head-start in increasing their shooting skills. Sponsors of the competition include Canon, Manfrotto, B+W, Lastolite, Eizo, Fotospeed, Veho, Rotolight, Bowens, X-Rite and DxO Software. Ten shortlisted runners-up will receive a £20 Calumet Voucher.
One entry to Calumet’s Student Photographer of the Year is welcome from all UK based students. Two further additional entries are offered to members of the Calumet Student Membership programme. The overall winner of the Calumet Student Photographer of the Year will be invited to attend The Photography Show at the NEC Birmingham on Tuesday 24 March 2015 where the award and prizes will be presented on stage at the Student Conference. An exhibition of all the shortlisted images will also be on display at the show.
